Guardians tecnològics a la indústria turística: Qualla Kids i la seva contribució innovadora al Tech Tourism Cluster

In this series of interviews, we will explore the synergy between technological companies in the tourism field and their membership in the recently created Tech Tourism Cluster, which is established as a driving force for boosting the competitiveness of companies to develop its strategic axes through the dissemination of knowledge in innovation, support for the internationalization of companies, the development of a future hybrid talent between technology and tourism, the commitment to the sustainable development of the sector and the support in the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the territory.

On this occasion, we were able to speak with Carles Porta, CEO and founder of Qualla Kids Pick Up System, which fuses creativity and business skills to address global challenges. Its pragmatic approach drives innovation in B2C, B2B and B2G models, seeking to improve the world through the convergence of technology and creativity.

Qualla Kids is one of the more than 70 members of the Tech Tourism Cluster, can you please tell us briefly about the main elements of your organization?

At Qualla Kids, we have the mission of guaranteeing who picks up the children when their children's activities are over (family hotels with children's activities, after-school activities, sports clubs, schools...). Although we currently respond to any center that develops children's activities, our starting point was in schools, seeking to respond to the difficulty of control in the process of collecting children at the time of departure .

Current family situations, whether due to parents' work schedules, legal situations, divorces, changing needs due to health reasons, etc., means that the people who will pick up the children from school every day can constantly vary. In this aspect, Qualla Kids has managed to bring great peace of mind to the families and the centers that use it, because with our application, the school staff can identify very quickly, easily and safely, each of the persons authorized to collect the students.

It was when we introduced this solution to the market, that we realized that it was not only a necessity for schools, but also for after-school centers, urban summer camps, etc. In short, any space where children are collected at the end of their activity. The market itself led us to the children's clubs of large holiday hotels, a risky space, where it is complicated for the children's entertainment staff to know the children's legal guardians.

This penetration into the tourism sector did not lead to becoming part of the Tech Tourism Cluster.

How is your participation in this tourist technology cluster contributing to the improvement of innovation and development of your company or organization?

On the one hand, the connection with the various agents in the sector, both potential clients and collaborators or investors. On the other hand, get to know the sector better, and understand what are the needs of hotel establishments in terms of security and management of the groups of minors they host in children's clubs.

Our application works in a very intuitive way, and to achieve an excellent user experience, we need to know very well where the "pain points" of our potential customers are, and in what way it is more useful to them than the we solve And we can only achieve this by always being very close to the customer.

In the context of this Cluster, what collaboration and networking opportunities have already presented themselves for your company or organization in terms of new projects or strategic alliances?

Each organized activity is in itself a networking space, where you meet other professionals, each with their own needs and proposals, but where the sum of talent of the different participants provides a perspective that always helps to improve the proposal , the organization or the business itself.

How has the exchange of knowledge and experiences between member companies influenced the creation and adoption of more advanced technological solutions in the tourism industry or initial proposals in this area?

In this aspect, we strongly believe in the value of the knowledge that is generated through participation and interaction in this type of environment. It is part of our culture to believe that innovation is not just about disruptive technology, but about creating solutions that respond to real needs. Putting the customer at the center and listening carefully to their needs is essential to creating solutions that meet real needs and that, in addition, are useful as they are done. In this case, being close to the sector allows us to know your needs and be able to optimize the solution in this regard.

The Cluster is a great facilitator of this type of relationship; we could define it as a friendly environment, where you can interact with the different members and get positive results.

From the perspective of the Cluster, what main contribution does your company or organization make to the tourism technology ecosystem and the promotion of the growth of other member companies and of the Cluster itself?

Qualla Kids was born with the aim of providing safety to children who are doing an activity in a space from which they must be picked up, either by their parents or by people authorized by them. Therefore, for any company that organizes children's activities, Qualla Kids is a security tool that will bring a lot of peace of mind to the different actors who are part of this collection process:

Families: Parents will be able to make last-minute changes, in case they want another parent to be able to pick up their children, or allow them to leave alone after their activity is over.
Monitors: the peace of mind of knowing at all times who the authorized people are, without having to be subjective and even if changes have occurred at the last moment.
The address of the hotel or campsite will have an automated record of any transaction and can be consulted at any time in the event of any incident. The degree of satisfaction of our customers confirms the usefulness of our system.
