Barcelona remains one of the 10 most chosen destinations among international travelers but is experiencing strong competition from emerging destinations with a similar tourist offer. Defined as "Destination dupes", many of these destinations quickly become popular through social networks such as TikTok or Instagram where it is intended to travel to less saturated and more authentic places. Some examples are: Taipei instead of Seoul, Liverpool towards London or Paros as an alternative to Santorini.
